Alzheimer's claimed my second parent yesterday. We lost Dad in August of 2000, and Mom finally gave up her fight yesterday morning. God love you Mom.

Sorry for your loss Greg. My parents didn't live long enough to get that terrible disease, but it claimed my Grandmother. We'll see them again soon.

Sorry for your loss Greg, cancer took my dad in 2007 and heart disease from a life time of smoking took my mom in 2015.

Hardest part of getting old is enduring the losses.

Sorry to hear it Greg. My dads father died from it. Its hard on the individual with it but I think its harder on the loved ones. I hope a cure is found soon but at least she is at peace now.

Both my parents are 80 and luckily we have had to deal with that illness.

My condolences as well Greg.

It's on my wife's side of the family and currently afflicting my mother in law. In some ways we treat animals better than humans.

I keep hearing news of promising research from some large biotech firms. Fingers crossed it'll be effective, soon to be available, and not prohibitively expensive.

My Mother looked after my Father when he got Alzheimer's, in her home for the first seven years, and then was by his side almost every day while he was in long term care up until his death. It was a brutal time for her, but then to come down with it herself in 2007 was nothing short of a slap in the face. I feel for any of you who have had this disease in your family, or any other fatal illness for that matter. Thanks for the kind words.
