PostSubject: Crooked Employees at Dealerships   May 30th 2016, 3:13 pm

We replaced my wife's car with a certified 2013 Prius. We settled on a good price given that there is little demand for Prius these days. Little did we know, the finance manager was a crooked young transplant from Chicago. He was good with small talk and distractions. I asked for a print out itemizing the final cost as the numbers looked high, he said "yes, I'll do that in a minute." Later he said "it's in with the other papers."

We get home and discover he added an aftermarket immobilizer ($1250) and a extended warranty ($2500). He never once mentioned the additions or how it affected the final price. We went back to the dealer, spoke to the sales manager, and they made it right. He also said he would "take care of it." I hope that fella gets a fast lesson on ethics but part of me knows those dealers want shady characters in the finance department.

I have to add things looked slow at the dealer. They had 10 or so salespeople lined up out front, they had a barbeque going with dogs and burgers, they just didn't have many customers. Maybe auto sales are finally slowing down!

The more you spend, the more they make. I'm sure there's at least one in every dealer. At least you got it sorted out. Hopefully the wife has a trouble free car.

They never expect you to read the contract until it is too late. Good catch, glad the dealership took care of you in the end.

Or, the dealer is suffering from a negative image (go figure) and trying to drum up sales.
Did you get a steak with the car?

I just get my financing lined up with my credit union any more. They still try to hustle you in the finance office anyway....and play the tired ass waiting game getting you in there.

I wonder what kind of person it takes to sit there lying, cheating and stealing, hour after hour, day after day, week after week. I'm sure they justify it in their minds somehow.

That goes for the sales managers too, they try to play the "good cop" role, in the end, all they are doing is lubing you up for the prison shower rape that will be held in the finance office. God Damned crooks, all of them.

We did the credit union pre-qualification also but, like you say, everyone gets the mandatory visit to the dash for cash department.

The finance guy was a piece of work. While he was screwing us over he was telling us his hard luck story about his previous business partner in Chicago screwing him over. Apparently one really needs to watch his back pocket when in Chicago.

Glad they made it right vs telling you to ship off since you already signed.
