Chevrolet Colorado Xtreme Debuts in Thailand
Could Updates Preview U.S. Market Changes?

The new Chevrolet Colorado midsize truck has proven to be a big hit for General Motors. However, the Colorado has been on sale in overseas markets since 2011. At the Bangkok International Motor Show, Chevrolet showed a concept that it says offers a “strong hint about Chevrolet’s future design direction,” the Colorado Xtreme.

The Colorado Xtreme revives a trim used on the first-generation U.S. market model to designate a sporty street truck styling package. The Thai Xtreme, on the other hand, goes completely in the opposite direction with an airbox snorkel, front off-road bumper with integrated skidplate, roof rack, 18-inch beadlock-look alloy wheels, rear “safari” bar, and contrasting tailgate “Chevrolet” block lettering. For the hard-core off-roaders, an inclinometer is included among the updates.

The front fascia brings the front styling more in line with the U.S.-spec Colorado. The LED driving lights could preview changes coming to the U.S. model soon. While the U.S. market may not be getting the Xtreme, we recently caught what appeared to be a production-bound Colorado ZR2 off-road model testing, so it’s likely we’ll see a more serious off-road effort than the Trail Boss package.
