This all-terrain robot weighs 4,188 lbs, is 9.18 ft tall and is powered by a 50hp Perkins 2.2-liter turbo diesel engine which sets the hydraulics into motion. It’s fitted with a series of sensors that help it walk, with its movements being controlled by a Linux PC running the HexEngine software that coordinates the 18 hydraulic actuator in its legs.
Not sure where you'd use it? Or why? But it's pretty cool!

Didn't I see that in "Wild Wild West"?

It's kind of cool and lame all at the same time.

It may seem odd and slow but this is just the beginning. Refinements will make it faster/smoother and someone will find an application for it. We have autonomous cars, planes, tiny surveillance "birds", bi-pod robots and now this heavy lifting all terrain creation. IF AI ever becomes a reality things could get interesting but don't worry as there are many computer engineers that are actively working on making AI just that.

When I saw the subject matter- "Mantis", I was thinking of one of these lol .....

It's just one of those years- it's been a long winter. Last winter I didn't even bother putting the chains on the tractor .... it was a pretty mild winter. No matter where you live you sooner or later you will encounter Mother Nature's extremes. One year I went home to Maine to see family at Christmas (I was living in Houston at the time). The temp at the Portland Jetport was 27 degreees the day I left ...... not unusual but when I got to Intercontinental in Houston it was 14 degrees- if you were a plumber you were raking in the dough with all the pipes bursting.

We're a long way down the road with robotis and AI. All US DoD projects with DARPA, funded by the US credit card.
Cool but concerned about possible uses and abuses some of the power structure would have in mind. Skynet doesn't appear that far off.
