Have the Republicans already blown it?

Last November was a good year for the Republican party at elections. They could have done something in past months to prove they are the party to lead this nation. Nothing has gotten done beside blocking legislation from Obama and the Democrats.
While I was happy to see the Republicans take majority I believe they have blown any momentum in taking control.
What do you think?

It was good that they took control because it slowed down the destruction Obama and the Dems had been doing. But thats all they have done, slow it down. They have not had the stomach to take the fight to the end. Partly because they suck at getting their message out and that is also partly because they do not have "a" message but a multitude of messages ranging from "Hi, Im going to fight Obama until the bell rings" to "Im going to look a little kookie but I'm going to fight until the end." You have Mitch and Boehner doing next to nothing to actually be a conservative to Ted Cruz and Rand Paul that are super conservative and even their own party fights against them. They cant all get behind something and take it all the way. Well except giving Obama unquestioned trade powers. (God help us!) The Republican parties issue is they don't stand for anything except the same thing the Dems stood for in 2004 through 2008; We are the party not affiliated with the current president.

They didn't capitalize on Benghazi and show how incompetent the current administration is. They let Hillary yell at them in their own meeting. They have floundered on the IRS issue. They had a great victory if they had only used it with Obama's "you can keep your healthcare" lie. I mean WTH, he basically admitted he intentionally lied dozens of times. He has no patience for someone who disagrees with him and you can see that when he is challenged, I'm sure if they actually pushed and challenged him he would stumble and show his true colors. They basically suck at being politicians which is incredibly hard to do.

I think they lost momentum too. Fortunately, there isn't much presidential threat from the Dem side.

I see they're already talking about increasing defense spending. They want more airplanes, navy ships, etc. And everything needs to be the best, the most expensive, and course carelessly produced over budget. If these clods were held to a fiduciary responsibility they'd all be in jail.

We need to get a handle on the budget before we become instant members of a banana republic.

Yep and the budget is part of the problem.  We haven't passed a federal budget since 2004 I think.  Now each department puts budget proposals forth, and Congress takes up appropriations bills.  Funding bits and parts.  There is no real binding budget anymore,  key here is there is no limit.  

Propose budget X.  Appropriate X+Y= More debt.  Just a new mechanism to insert into the government money shell game.  They make it so astronomically complicated for a reason.  The DoD alone can't account for tens of billions on average annually.  Poof!

For anyone that has a memory and any recollection of history, its hard to look back over the last 20 years and put your finger were the GPO made a conservative difference about anything.  They talk a lot about it, their actions speak else wise.  It's no wonder why there's such calamity within, it's like fighting for the last scraps of meat left on the carcass.  When a celebrity pops in and is leading poles more than the rest of them combined.  Yes the party is in shambles, hope they enjoy sleeping in the bed they made..
