Flu season Empty
PostSubject: Flu season   Flu season EmptyJanuary 20th 2015, 7:09 pm

I had gotten the flu shot last September, but the strain mutated. Now both my sons and I have it, but the females at home don't. I just called my son yesterday telling him his brother had the flu and I dropped him off at college Sunday, so watch out for the symptoms. He called today asking for a copy of the insurance and prescription cards.
I hate being in bed sick!

Both my wife and I caught the bug on Boxing Day. Mine turned into a sinus infection but cleared up fast on antibiotics. My wife got pneumonia and was a mess for a couple weeks. Neither one of us had the flu shot.

I'm just getting over a stomach bug...I rode the toilet from Friday evening all they way thru Monday morning. Fever, weakness, nausea and the epic hot water shits.

No more flu shots for me. DW always pooh poohed me for always complaining after I got the shot- felt like crap 2 to 3 days after the shot (felt like I was getting the flu) plus pain and swelling at the injection site but I put up with it until the last flu shot a few years ago. Broke out in hives and a red rash all over and had trouble breathing. They gave me some nebulizer treatments until I could breath halfway decent again and then put me on prednisone for 10 days ... didn't get much sleep.

My wife and two daughters got the shot, I didn't. They've all been sick. Been loading up on vitamins and nutrients versus the shot. Not too fond on medicating when absolutely not necessary. Was reading the other day the H3N2 strain that's being pass around isn't in this years flu shot. Go figure the pharmaceuticals still make the same money whether they hit it or miss it. This is right up there with weather forecasting.

Over 50k people die of Influenza and Pneumonia symptoms annually. For millions of others it's misery. It's hard on infants and hard on seniors.

Yet we spend trillions a year on terrorism, bankrupting the nation. Our priorities are screwed. And most of the terrorism is cause and effect.

Under reported. Many people yearly die after the flu shot. Not only for flu but other vaccines as well can cause all kinds of life altering effects, these are real, read the insert for the vaccine. Back in the 70's there was a "break out" of the swine flu, the vaccine had adverse life altering effects of thousands. To protect the pharmaceuticals the government setup a limited liability and payout legal system for people that had been harmed, called the vaccine court, or officially the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program. This allows the pharmaceuticals to push out medication that's high risk, and limits their liability.

Little girl died just a couple weeks ago less than 72 hours after the flu shot. Believe she was three.

Win for big pharma, the people you guessed it, lose out. Some with their life. What a country.

I'm all for vaccinations against the main diseases but not sold on the flu shots.

Haven't had a full blown case of the flu in about 8 yrs and last shot over 10 yrs ago.
That said, I have been sick probably every year. Just not total vomiting, diarrhea, fever at the same time.

I went to the doctor today after a rough night last night. I had to put on sweats and hooded sweatshirt wear gloves and slippers under the covers. Then I woke up burning up. I at least wanted to rule out a respiratory infection. The doctor gave me Tamaflu but he didn't to have much faith that it would help make me better.
I get the flu shot every year even though I am allergic to eggs. Most years I just get a bad cold and no flu. The last time I had it bad was 11 years ago and I swear the hair on my head even hurt.

Tamaflu is great though it works best to start it at the onset of symptoms.
