Chevy Avalanche-Style 2015 Chevrolet Silverado Looks Surprisingly Good

Quote :
The 2015 Chevrolet Silverado High Desert concept rocks a return to the cladding we last saw on the mega-macho Chevy Avalanche. I dare say; the look works with the new body style. Then again, what wouldn't look good in this color.

This truck is basically a Silverado High Country crew cab with especially pretty paint; the main attraction is the lockable storage system in the bed and buttresses around the rear window. That color's called Deepwood Green with Oxide Gold and Russet accents.

Big Brembo brakes and a custom exhaust were thrown in for good measure. Those 22" wheels are from the Chevrolet Accessories catalog.

Wouldn't call this a "wild concept," but I love it.

Do you think this cargo-cladding should be added to the options list?

Just bring back the Avalanche.

This is no more than a sticker package that doesn't really alter the use of the base truck.

Ram box is the only "new" item but I can't tell if they are just inserts or actually new bed sides.

It looks like it would cut into the bed rail at minimum, if it's not a completely new bed side.

Being a fan of the last gen Avalanche, I like the package, but it wouldn't be for everyone for sure. It reduces much of the accessability of a lot of the bed, but I would assume it would still maintain a 4' wide load floor.

It's important to note that this is just a concept and may never make production.

2017 Chevrolet Silverado High Desert Adds Cargo Versatility, Magnetic Shocks
Concept Shown at SEMA Show Headed for Production

Quote :
A few years ago at the 2014 SEMA Show, Chevrolet showed the Silverado 1500 High Desert concept, which added flying buttresses reminiscent of the late Avalanche sport-utility truck and a modular cargo management system in the bed to offer flexibility for transporting smaller or larger items. Chevrolet is now announcing its production intent for the High Desert package, which will be offered as an option on LT, LTZ, and High Country trims of the Silverado Crew Cab and will go on sale this fall.

In addition to the buttresses and cargo management system, the High Desert package will feature 20-inch alloy wheels on the LT trim and 22-inch wheels on the LTZ and High Country trims. On the High Country model with the High Desert package, GM’s magnetic ride control system will be included.

The specific components of the High Desert cargo management system include dual side storage bins, a three-piece hard tonneau cover, and a cargo divider for secure transport of smaller items when raised and full access to the length of the bed when lowered. As with the other LTZ and High Country models, the truck can be ordered with the 6.2L V-8 producing 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque mated to the 8L90 eight-speed automatic transmission.

A lot of pickup owners only use their truck for commuting to work and getting groceries. This is basically a trunk organizer for them. Effective.
