They listed what our county received in the newspaper last week. A few Humvee's M-16's, M-4's, but the large bulk was emergency supplies such as generators and the 2 1/2 trucks to help evacuate the beach communities.

This is a list of residents with guns, not govt. Not sure of accuracy though, Texas coming in around 80 or so seems suspect. I don't think I know anyone who doesn't own at least one firearm, however they surely aren't all registered.

Quote :
The first Texas county on City Data’s list is Harris County at No. 73, where apparently just over 30 percent of residents have a home firearm.

I wouldn't bet on that percentage.

The phrase used in Texas, "If you know how many firearms you have, you don't have enough".

Been wanting to buy some more guns as I only have my shotgun but can't swing the expense right now. Would like to get a few for me and Maggie, she wants a pistol and I want a revolver, but having to put it off for a bit.

Maps like that really not useful as how many of us are "harboring" numerous firearms that aren't reported and/or registered? I know the majority of people I work with and in the circles I travel in have veritable arsenals stashed away, and I live in extremely liberal (read: pro-gun control) western Washington. There's a fair number of 80% AR lowers I know being purchased right now, too. When the SHTF, there's gonna be a whole lotta surprised sheeple!

That's right, and good. I knew a guy who had a walk in safe completely full, hundreds of firearms. It's people like this who skew those numbers probably by a factor of 10 or more. It's estimated the number of firearms owned by American citizens is between 300 to 500 million. That's going off registrations. Probably realistically closer to 4-5 billion. No country in their right mind would pick a fight with us on our dirt.

If there every was a time to buy a firearm, the time is now. There is a glut on the market, gun company stocks are down because there are too many firearms in the store. Don't wait for another NewTown when the prices jump up as market demand increases.

At one point I could have sold one of my AR-15's that had not been shot yet and gotten double the paid for price. I should have, and bought back when the market was ripe, which is now.
I also have a S&W 15/22 that I paid $479 new and have 6 magazines for it. Last week I saw it on sale new shipped for $339.

Buy now!

Another thing to keep in mind is that aside from being a typical poll, I think the population of the counties matters as well. It doesn't really say how the information was gathered. Just an interesting read. Take it with a grain of salt.

Last I heard, the Sheriff of Contra Costa County has never issued a carry permit since he has been in office.
And there is no crime at all in the greater San Francisco Bay Area.
